Rising 2: Off The Record - Dumpy Guys Still Kick Ass

Quick Review:

This is an odd duck of a game. It's a reimagining of the core Dead Rising 2 game, starring an older, pudgier version original franchise protagonist Frank West. It seems like the ultimate DLC, rather than a stand-alone title.

A little more polished and tweaked than DR2, it would seem to act as a replacement for that game… and yet, storywise, it offers more to those who have played the previous release. While it follows the same basic storyline, it changes some key plot points to keep things interesting.

A new theme park area incorporated into the game, and a separate free-roaming challenge mode do add value to justify this as a full retail release.

Recommended for Dead Rising fans, and anyone who likes to get up close and personal with the inevitable zombie breakout.

Lizzy Says

I don't care what anybody says, I will never tire of killing zombies with a crazy variety of weapons! Point me towards the nearest flea market and bring on the zombie apocalypse!

Clyde Says

I don't understand why my weapons have to go "SPROING!" when they break. It's a very disheartening noise. It's like one of my heartstrings snapping off. It's an emotional game.

Artist's Notes

I quite enjoyed this game. There was a less serious tone than previous entries, so it's more focused on just having fun killing zombies. And though Frank was never really "ideal man" material, he really let himself go, which only makes his hilariously awful fashion choices even more hilariously awful. Wacky stuff!
