Mass Effect - Bouncing To Its Own Drummer

Quick Review:

This is one of the buggiest games on the Xbox 360, with nary a cutscene that doesn't have jarring texture pop-ins or empty spaces where a character should have loaded. The game will freeze, dialog gets dropped. But who cares? It's the excellent choice-based narrative and flashy powers that is so compelling, that broken stuff seems a mild irritant. There's also decent gunplay and a rewarding RPG leveling system.

But what's with that stupid bouncy tank?

Recommended for fans of Shooters who want something delicious added to their normal gameplay.

Who thought this car was a good idea?? What stupid space-future is this that still uses wheels anyway? Give me hover technology or just beam me where I want to go. Otherwise, don't thaw me out until we get to the real future!

Clyde Says

I'd like to see a Smash Bros type of game, except with recognizable franchise cars! Mass Effect's Mako, Halo's Warthog, No More Heroes' big goofy motorcycle… all slamming into each other in one big demolition derby. Or in the Mako's case, bouncing into each other. Lizzy probably still wouldn't let me drive, though.

Artist's Notes

It's sometimes difficult to translate different creatures into my cartoon art style. They inevitably look bizarre in the proportions, but hopefully they come across appropriately goofy. I think it works best on characters such as a Krogan, in Mass Effect, who are inherently tough; I like making intimidating things look cutesy.
