Those Games We Play

Mass Effect 2 - A Musical Tribute To Killing Things

Quick Review:

Wow. This is how you tweak a franchise. The shooting mechanics, the inventory system, the crew interactions… what didn't get an overhaul? I didn't even think the game needed so much departure from the foundation of the original, but I'm so glad it happened. A lot of things have been streamlined and polished, and the entire game is a much more inviting experience for newcomers. But not in a bad way, at all.

The narrative has been punched up as well, offering more choices, more interactions, and even more replay value. The story doesn't have the epic scope of the first, but it works much better on the personal level.

Recommend for everyone. Give it a try!

Lizzy Says

Some people don't think I'm a very maternal person. I can just point to this scene and show them how wrong they are. Just look at me, nurturing little Grunt, rewarding his obedient behavior and making sure he gets his nap. I'd make a good mom. Or a good military leader. Same job, different uniform.

Clyde Says

For someone who bursts into song at a moment's notice, Lizzy's not so supportive of other people doing the same. She's quirky like that.

Artist's Notes

I originally had different lyrics (to a different tune) in the last panel. He was actually singing about the game, but I didn't want to put a "(sung to the tune of…)" note in the panel, and I felt the rhythm didn't come across well without it. Instead, I just had him sing a real line of a song. Ultimately, it was more about him annoying Lizzy than the song itself.
